NCAA Compliance for Student Athletes

It is the intention of Athlete Connections to strictly adhere to the NCAA Compliance standards. Athlete Connections does not charge student-athletes fees for their use of this site, nor do we “represent” student-athletes in achieving their job search goals. Our objective is to advocate, expand and improve career opportunities for student-athletes in a secure online environment. There are two specific NCAA guidelines that specifically refer to the subject of online support for employment opportunities.

NCAA Bylaws Governing Athlete Agents

Under NCAA Bylaw 12.3, a student-athlete (any individual who currently participates in or who may be eligible in the future to participate in intercollegiate sport) may not agree verbally or in writing to be represented by an athlete agent in the present or in the future for the purpose of marketing the student-athlete’s ability or reputation. If the student-athlete enters into such an agreement, the student-athlete is ineligible for intercollegiate competition. (Source: NCAA Website, Published July 29, 2010)

NCAA Bylaws Governing Free or Reduced-Cost Services.

Under NCAA Bylaw 16.11, an athletics representative may not provide a student-athlete with professional services (for which a fee normally would be charged) without charge or at a reduced cost except as permitted elsewhere in this bylaw. Professional services provided at less than the normal rate or at no expense to a student-athlete are considered an extra benefit unless they are available on the same basis to the general student body. It is your responsibility as a student-athlete to understand the policies set forth by the NCAA. If there is any question you may have regarding these rules and/or how they apply to using Athlete Connections, contact your Athletic Association’s Compliance department.
